01紡ぎ
(生地糸の準備)Spinning
(Preparing of Yarn)
原料となる羊毛は、主にニュージーランドとイギリス産。剛直性、弾性、柔軟性などの観点から、羊毛は製品に最適な割合でブレンドします。
With wool as the material that is primarily sourced from New Zealand and the UK. Based on its strength, elasticity, and softness, the wool is selected and blended into an optimized ratio for the product.
02糸マーセライズ加工Yarn Marcerization
羊毛に、独自開発した糸マーセライズ加工を施します。染色バスの中でじっくりと時間をかけて処理と湯洗いを繰り返した後、糸を乾燥させます。
The wool yarn is processed with Yarn Mercerization developed in-house. After taking a long time to repeat the dyeing process and hot water washing in a dyeing bath, the dyed yarn is dried.
03染色Dyeing
染色工房で試験染めや耐光テストを繰り返し、"MANYO"に的確な色をつくり出します。その後、糸マーセライズ加工を施した糸を染色していきます。
After abrasion resistance and light fading tests are performed many times, the optimized colors for “MANYO” are generated. Subsequently, the processed wool yarn refined with Yarn Mercerization are dyed with these colors.
04織り（手刺し）Weaving (By hand)
手刺しという技法で、じゅうたんを織っていきます。職人がフックガンという工具を用いて、"MANYO"を織り進めます。打ち込む力やバランスを常に均一に保つ高い技術と経験が高品質な製品を生み出します。
Weaving the carpet with a hand weaving technique; craftsperson’s use a special tool, a hook-gun, to weave the carpets. Their high-level of technique to keep consistency during weaving and balance, and expertized skills ensures our high-quality products.
05シャーリング
(表面仕上げ)Shirring (Surface Finish)
じゅうたんの表面を均一にするための仕上げ工程です。職人が芝刈り機のような専用機械で表面を刈り揃える工程を繰り返しながら、バリカンや手鋏みで仕上げていきます。
The finish process to make the surface uniform. Our craftsperson’s repeat the cut process on the carpets’ surface with special machines such as lawnmowers and finish all the products with hair clippers and scissors.
06手仕上げFinish by hand
職人の手と目による、最終確認と調整を行います。じゅうたんの端にあたる耳をなだらかにカットし、表面の遊び毛等も、ひとつひとつ整えていきます。最後まで綿密な仕上げを施し、"MANYO"が完成します。
Our craftsperson’s check and adjust at the end of the whole process by themselves. They cut the edge of the carpets and cut straggling threads one by one. This thoughtful and minute finish till the end delivers high quality “MANYO” carpets.
糸マーセライズ
についてAbout Yarn Mercerization
マーセライズは、綿糸（コットン）を絹（シルク）のような光沢糸に変化させる加工で、シルケット加工と呼ばれます。
「山形緞通」を展開するオリエンタルカーペットでは、1950年に、ウール素材のじゅうたんのためのマーセライズ加工法を開発。加工を施した製品には、絹のような光沢とくすんだ独特の表情が生まれ、そのやわらかな肌触りと共に、多くの人々を惹きつけてきました。特に、個人のお客さまはもとより、建築界を中心に最高品質と認めていただき、様々な著名建造物への納入に繋がりました。
しかし、近年になり、原料羊毛や染料等の供給に変化が生じ、高コスト化が懸念されるようになります。これらの課題に対して、製品段階でマーセライズ加工を施すのではなく、毛糸の状態での加工ができないか研究を始めました。
2015年からは、山形県工業技術センターと共同開発。5年の歳月をかけ、今作「MANYO」で初の実用化となります。
This process is a finish that transforms cotton yarn to ones with a silky luster.
It is called mercerization. Oriental Carpet mills, who deploys branding of Yamagata Dantsu, developed the mercerization technique for wool carpets in 1950. Our mercerized products have fascinated people with their unique expression with dull lusters like silk and soft tactile. Not only retail customers, but also contract clients including architects acknowledge the excellent quality of our products, leading to the supply to well-known architectures.
However, in recent years the manufacturing cost has risen because of changes in the supply of material, wool, and dyes. To solve these issues, our company decided to start research and development of a new mercerization for wool yarn substituted with mercerization for carpet products.
Since 2015, the new technique has advanced more in cooperation with Yamagata Research Institute of Technology. After a 5-year-long research and development, the new mercerization comes into practical use for this new collection "MANYO".
